so yummy - sure to be a regular

I recently added a new widget to the blog on the right over there... Tung showed me the Tastespotting blog a few months ago and my mouth's been watering ever since. That's where I saw this recipe. I went right home that night and made it.

I find that we often make slightly different iterations of the same thing over and over.
This definitely is a whole new flavor for pasta and - while it has a bunch of ingredients - it took me about 20 minutes to throw together (I added zucchini). And the leftovers were delicious.

Mickey Mouse pumpkins? Makes me want to visit for the food & wine festival this year.
Some weekend inspiration...

We may have to buy a new house just for this.

busy fantasizing over here

I've been dreaming of one day finding the perfect lot for a gorgeous pre-fab home.

Another reason to love Thom - he looks good as a Simpsons character. Wanna see how you look?

There are moments when I'm simply overcome with boredom and I think my eyeballs may fall out of my head. Sometimes this happens during a long meeting about technical requirements (do I care if its 240k with AJAX?) or when Thom's decided to watch all the episodes of John From Cincinnati (seriously - I don't get that show. What's wrong with a little airy fun?).

Typically at those moments I start flipping through my favorite blogs for distraction. Who am I kidding - I'll use any excuse for a juicy blog read. Recently during one such blog-gourging session I linked to Orangette from another favorite blog. And I fell in love.

She's just the most amazing person with the most fantastic mouth-watering recipes (and pictures!) and the most beautiful story. I dare you not to agree:
here and here.

Thank you, Thom for asking me to marry you. Otherwise I never would have found all these interesting people who are documenting their wedding planning on blogs. I guess there are a few other benefits to marrying you. Like having someone to share all the cool anecdotes I find on the blogs. And establishing a true appreciation for Martha.

12 days to go...

We're off to San Miguel de Allende in a couple of weeks! I'm so excited. I'm also feeling a little stressed since we're supposed to be planning our wedding.

On our way to San Miguel de Allende we will be staying at the lovely (I hope)
Condesa DF in Mexico City for 2 nights. This hotel came highly recommended from a friend who lives in Mexico City and I think I see why from the pictures...

(thanks Jackie for putting me in touch with Isaac)

i'm not the only person early...

My wedding dress arrived last week. A month ahead of when they told me it would be in the store. Thankfully they'll store it there until I need it. I figure I can pick it up early next year and get it tailored. That will still give me plenty of time to come up with a backup plan if I try it on again and decide I must have been hallucinating when I picked it out in the store. Of course that would mean that Jackie would also have been in an alternate universe and then she would have to be punished very badly. But I'm not really worried - it's pretty simple.

In the meantime I've been practicing the pose above. I have to get that right by the wedding!

perfect bachelor party accessories

Black Bar Glasses

Never have I been so sure that I was born into the wrong life. Clearly I was meant to be Posh. Can't you tell? Not only does she have some seriously killer shoes but she has Becks...

Course my fiance has a totally normal voice. At least I've got that on her. And Thom's his own kind of posh.

starving

Sometimes I think the hardest part of Thom being out of town is the total lack of food in our house. There just doesn't seem to be any reason to cook when he's not here. But I might just break that habit for these guys. Nah, he'd like them too much - I'll wait until he's back.
Jasper and Alfie chasing each other around the den for over an hour! I know, you're thinking "where's jasper?" - he's that black blur you can barely make out in the photo.

Dweezil asking me what's wrong with Jasper and Alfie.

investigating the scape

We experimented with some garlic scapes from the greenmarket this weekend. They were tasty and very mildly garlicky.

there is such a thing as too early...

Something that I keep forgetting to mention - our awesome new sunjars! Tung was kind enough to give us 4 of these guys and they produce a lovely glow in the backyard in the evening. They charge in direct sunlight (which we have plenty of) during the day and automatically light up at dusk.

One more reason to never leave our house...

our latest diy - shabby chic

A coffee table we found on the street - newly painted white. This one will be temporary until we have the room finished. Of course new floors and painted walls are still years away...
We also painted a couple end tables which were originally Thom's sisters. These are pretty snazzy - don't you think?

someone got a fancy new haircut

We're petsitting a friend's two pups for a few weeks while they're romping through Europe. It's certainly been more lively around here.

and in even better news...

Trader Joe's comes to Brooklyn! Who wants to bet they'll open before Whole Foods?

grand am begone!

so excited about smart finally coming here!

Now I'm really torn. I love these and think they could be really nice hanging from a tent or on a balcony area. But I also love these.

it's really hot

It's been sweltering in NYC and, while we have AC in a couple rooms now (thank goodness), it's really not cutting it. Time to brainstorm other ideas...and think cool.

Wii Rule!

courtesy of tung's new Wii
Last night we decided it was time for some fresh air (ha!) and took a trip into park slope for some "greek frozen yogurt" at Oko.

Very tasty - but no PinkBerry.
