a beautiful sunday in central park

Sunday we met up with Thom's family for the donor walk in Central Park.

what day was it again?

My favorite tech lead at work all dressed up for the occasion.

saturday night - part two

As I mentioned - there's always dancing...

First there was dining room dancing

Then Omar showed up fresh from a 26 hour flight from Australia.

But Thom couldn't resist Omar's white linen suit. (That's Omar in the background in Omar's clothes)

Ghostly dancing.
Camille and Etnyre take it all in during their first trip to the Thomoli household.

...and lots of cleanup.

Something you should know about attending festivities at our house. Be prepared to dance.

Sometimes bubbly helps the dancing skills.
Haverly drinks cava from her pumpkin prize trophy. No, seriously.
Phil - fresh from Burma. And Hogan giving the other bald man (Matt) the evil eye.
And it starts. That's Toto's "Africa" people.

Thom's Vegan White Russian keeps it going...
Tung tries his best to avoid the insanity.
A short interlude for dessert.
Refusing to sing.
"All Night Long" by Mr Lionel Richie. So good and so bad.

It didn't end there. Not even close. More to come tomorrow...
The weather cleared up just in time. Ok, so maybe we rushed it a little bit.
endive spoons with blue cheese, cranberries and walnuts
homemade porchini and shitake pierogi

foccacia from the greenmarket
prepped bruschetta (artichoke and eggplant versions) and brie/pear tarts
cheese - beautiful, wonderful stinky cheese courtesy of jackie and matt

As expected, a few things fell by the wayside during the course of the night. We didn't get a chance to make the soup or squash side. But we were stuffed anyway with pasta, salad, and so much more.

setting the stage...

We started our Saturday evening with some pumpkin carving fun. And some people were a bit competitive. Ahem.
In case you're wondering - Miss Haverly Damon is the artist behind that prize-winning cat. We'll be missing her talents when she moves to Chicago next Spring.
Getting into the fall spirit. Most of these come from Provincetown.
Yes, I did have to try every kind of pumpkin beer at Bierkraft. Sigh. I could live there.

And in case you're curious - the Lakehouse one (first onleft) is definitely the best.
His love for Penguin doesn't diminish despite several replacements. Wonder if he notices the difference?
Thom scrubbing the windshield on the way to vegetarian dim sum.
Me watching Thom work (that's what I do best).
Tung at veggie dim sum. In Hannah's glasses - but don't they look good on him?

a talent I wish I had

It was discovered on a space mission that a frog can throw
up.The frog throws up its stomach first, so the stomach is dangling out of
it’s mouth. Then the frog uses its forearms to dig out all of the
stomach’s contents and then swallows the stomach back down again.

Stuff you didn't know
