The guys made good progress this week which is making me think the backyard actually might be done someday... You can see in this picture (which Thom took from our roof) that we'll have two pergolas which create some nice parallel lines.

Well, I was reading up on some sites that have "green roof" specs. And I think we could do it. But that wouldn't technically be a garden. Regardless, the roof isn't that accessible or a fun place to hang out.
But I will have an herb garden in the backyard!
